On 10th December 2015, renowned law firm within the Travel industry, Fieldfisher, invited WHA’s Chris Photi and Nikki Spoor to present at their Travel Breakfast Briefing. The purpose of the event was to inform the attendees, all of whom operate within the industry, about the latest issues and topics that will have an effect on their businesses.
The event was hosted by Head of Travel Group at Fieldfisher, Rhys Griffiths. Rhys was the first of 4 presenters for the morning and started by focusing on the new Package Travel Directive and the rules that will come into play over the next two and half years. He emphasised that it would be wrong to underestimate its potential effect on the industry.
Chris Photi then followed this with a presentation entitled “The new solvency protection regime for package holidays – a practical overview”. Chris highlighted the impacts of PTD and ATOL reform and what this will mean for the future of the industry.
Fieldfisher’s David Wilkinson then presented with a current hot topic, that of Mergers & Acquisitions within the Travel Industry. He spoke of the potential hurdles that a company will have to deal with in the M&A process.
Last to present was WHA’s Nikki Spoor, who informed the group of the potential opportunities open to Travel Companies by HMRC’s Research & Development tax credits. Nikki has a wealth of experience in this area and focused on “if, why and how” a claim can be successfully made.
Fieldfisher’s Breakfast Briefing event was very informative and the feedback was very positive.
WHA would like to take this opportunity to thank Fieldfisher for inviting us to present at this event.
