On Wednesday 7 September 2016 WHA co-sponsored, with Duff and Phelps, the Travel Weekly Business Breakfast Meeting, held at the Google Offices in Central London.
Over 100 industry executives filled the auditorium to hear a lively panel debate regarding an on-going Travel Industry “Hot Topic”, Mergers and Acquisitions.
To start proceedings, Bernd Fauser of Google Travel shared some industry insights and current customer trends, and then announced a brand new product, an EMEA dashboard which looks and trends and is updated quarterly.
Travel Weekly’s Ian Taylor then headed a panel which included Seamus Conlon, managing director of Cruise.co.uk; Henrik Nordman, investment director with Bridgepoint Development Capital; Suzanne Horner, chief executive of Gray Dawes Travel; and Will Waggott, chief executive of Travelopia.
A wide range of related topics were discussed, ranging from potential disruptions when looking to selling your business, what a Capital Acquirer will look for when choosing a business to invest in, to what are the biggest Global and Geo-politic issues if you are looking to grow or sell your business.
Finally Ian Taylor asked the panel. What advice would you give a Travel Company looking at M&A?
All four panellists agreed that you should appoint good professional advisors.
At WHA we have dealt with many M&A transactions, our expertise and experience in this area is well known within the Travel Industry.
Nikki Spoor of WHA, closed events with a big thankyou to our co-sponsors and Travel Weekly for hosting this event. We would particularly like to thank Seamus, Henrik, Will and Suzanne for their input on the panel.
